Custom configured, ultra high pressure pumps are not only for cutting on a waterjet table. Far from it. The high pressure water stream is used for surface preparation such as paint stripping, aircraft part cleaning and degreasing, incorporation into continuous flow slitting lines, mounting to robotic arms for trimming, adding additional profiling functionality to stone cutting equipment and a host of other specialty applications that are borderline genius. In any one of these instances, a high pressure waterjet system might replace the current process while eliminating secondary operations.
Stripping and Cleaning Systems: When high pressure water is directed through a cleaning swivel, a high intensity spray column is created. As the spray pattern is moved over a surface with the desired pump pressure, paint can be pulled back from a surface, grease can be removed, sintered materials cleaned without damaging the part.
Robotic Automation for Trim Cells: Fiberglass pressed parts, formed plastic parts, textiles such as carpeting and ceramics often incorporate robotics and high pressure water to cut and trim. Many materials can be cut with just water, however, when more aggressive cutting is required, abrasive is added to the water stream at the cutting head dramatically increasing the range of products that can be cut or trimmed.
